Five (Good) Reasons to Learn Graphics for Business Now

I’m really excited to be teaching web graphics for business again. When I first launched a coaching program on this topic back in 2010 there were no quality online editors, like PicMonkey that you could use to create high-quality images that promote your business. Also back then social media was really JUST getting started so there weren’t dozens of social media covers to create or social sharing graphics to have on hand!

Sure things are always progressing but that doesn’t mean they have to be out of reach or way too complicated!!

I’m known by my market as the person who makes things that seem complicated, easier. I fully intend to do a kick-ass job of making graphics so easy for you that you WISH you’d learned them sooner. Sound like a deal? Then read on and find out these five (GOOD) reasons that you should really pay attention and learn to create your own website and business graphics, now:

  1. Save a BUNDLE of Money
  2. Save OODLES of Time
  3. Get Your BRAND Right
  4. Get Graphics FAST
  5. Be an AMAZING Outsourcer

Sound good? Good! I’ll elaborate…

(re:Money) When you can create your own graphics you’ll never have to hire a graphics designer. The reality is that most people don’t have the small business budget to pay $1000’s of dollars to get the graphics they’ll need throughout the course of a year. Creating your own graphics will save you big bucks that you can invest in your business in other ways, instead.

(re: Time) Creating your own graphics allows you to get results, fast. One of the most difficult parts of outsourcing graphics is the time you’ll spend going back and forth trying to get exactly what you’re looking for. You’ll save so much time AND frustration knowing how to do simple yet quality graphics yourself.

(re: Branding) You’re likely going to change your brand a few times before you’re really happy with the look of your site and business. Paying someone every time you want to make a tweak to your branding will be pricey AND time consuming. Doing it yourself  you can get it right, very affordably!

(re: Fast) There’ll be no searching for a good designer, no hoping they’re available for your work and no waiting for them to get it complete even when they say they’re free. Graphics done on your schedule and even last minute means you can get what you need fast, when you need it.

(re: Outsourcing) Even if your ultimate intention is to outsource your graphics creation you’ll do a MUCH better job of paying people to help you if you have a great understanding of how to create graphics yourself. This will save you time, money AND frustration when outsourcing your graphics creation.

So… you need graphics. How do you get them? I use a combination of a lot of tools and resources to make my graphics happen but my go-to tools are both Gimp and PicMonkey. I combine those with stock photos from DepositPhotos and make the majority of my blog post graphics, newsletter images, eCovers and more.

I liked your point about branding. I love DIY branding…for me, it’s fun to create my own graphics. And I’m a fan of PicMonkey, just like you. I tend to use it for quick graphics that I know won’t need a lot of touch-ups. But for heavy duty projects, I pull out Photoshop Elements.

Same here Avery. I use PicMonkey for quick stuff and for anything that needs editing or I create a template for repeats of similar graphics then I’ll get out Gimp. Of course Photoshop works 😉

Thanks so much for the comment!
